Dr Bihan Tuduwage Don is a specialist psychiatrist and the founder of Methsandi. His work is guided by a commitment to clinical excellence, kindness, and a genuine respect for each person’s individuality.

He is especially interested in providing careful, psychiatrist‑led ADHD assessment and ongoing support that recognises the impact of mental health on work, relationships and daily life. Dr Don uses a collaborative approach with the psychologists at Mind Health Care to achieve better patient outcomes.

In Sinhalese, Methsandi brings together ideas of kindness and a gentle, safe place — “Meth” reflecting loving‑kindness, and “Sandi” evoking the calm, soft light of the moon. Together, the name Methsandi expresses our commitment to offering a kind, reassuring space for mental health care.

Dr Don has over 15 years’ experience in psychiatry, with more than 10 of them in Australia. After working in different parts of Australia, including Sydney, the Gold Coast, Mackay and the Whitsunday region, Dr Don moved to Geelong in 2018 to join Barwon Health and St John of God Hospital and established his private clinic in Geelong in 2019.
Dr Don continues to provide consultation-liaison psychiatry services at St John of God. He is an Affiliate Senior Lecturer in Psychiatry at Deakin University Medical School at Waurn Ponds Campus, and acts as an Independent Medical Examiner for WorkSafe Victoria.
Dr Don’s approach to care is shaped not only by his clinical training, but also by his personal values and life experience.
He is a practising Buddhist, and draws on Buddhist spirituality, philosophy and meditation techniques in his own life. While clinical care at Methsandi is grounded in evidence‑based psychiatry, these practices inform his emphasis on compassion, mindfulness, ethical conduct and respect for each person’s dignity.
Dr Don has strong connections with Sri Lanka, including involvement in charitable work there. These experiences contribute to his understanding of cultural context, migration, and the diverse ways people experience and express distress.
He aims to bring a gentle, thoughtful and steady approach to every consultation, whether in person or via telehealth.
Dr Don welcomes referrals for adult (aged 18-60) ADHD in professionals and provides general psychiatric reviews for clients currently seeing a psychologist at Mind Health Care.
There is a very strong demand to see Dr Don, so wait times for new clients can be several months.
